Hood to Coast Relay
We are stoked to be a part of the Hood to Coast Race Series as well as the Hood to Coast Relay and especially the Session Beer Garden at the finish line on the beach in Seaside, Oregon. Hood to Coast Relay is the can’t-miss event of the summer in Oregon. This two-day, 199-mile team race brought over 60,000 people together to raise over $725K for Providence Cancer Center.
For the runners, the finish line is epic. There’s a crowd of people with a front row ocean view cheering the teams on.
This event is good fun for a good cause. The fun doesn’t stop when you cross the finish line with your team- it’s just the beginning. The beach goes through an incredible transformation as the runners make their way West. With all the set-up, a stretch of the Seaside beach turns into a dynamic, bustling little micro-culture celebrating what the runners have accomplished and the money raised for the Providence Cancer Center. There is a wealth diversity of the runners and walkers and their team costumes, uniforms and van decorations – there’s so much great personality and positive, communal spirit on display.
The finish line also greets you with different ways to relax after the long journey to the beach. You can decompress at the recovery tent, find a Session bean bag chair to lounge in and visit one of the beer tents for a cold one. Enjoy a game of cornhole and a plate of food before the main event. When the sun sets, the stage lights up for a live concert and dancing in the sand.
And then, there’s always the team bonding experience. Much like the event team, each running team spends months working together to prepare to cross the finish line. It’s incredibly rewarding to see it all come together and for the athletes, who’ve worked so hard, enjoy the festive finish line atmosphere. It’s a weekend for the books! Until next year, see you at the beach!
